No - NotebookLM's PPTX export does not remove the watermark. The "Made with NotebookLM" mark is still embedded in the slide master of every exported PowerPoint file, and the fastest fix is our free NotebookLM PPT/PPTX Watermark Remover.

Many users were excited when NotebookLM added native PPTX export in early 2026. Editable PowerPoint slides - finally! But when they opened the exported PPTX, the "Made with NotebookLM" watermark was still there, on every slide. This was a surprise to many. Here's what's happening and how to fix it.

Why the PPTX Export Still Has a Watermark

The addition of PPTX export to NotebookLM was about giving users editability - the ability to change slide content, update text, and customise layouts. It was not about removing branding. Google deliberately kept the watermark in PPTX exports for the same reason it's in PDFs: the watermark is only removed for Google AI Ultra subscribers.

So the PPTX export gives you two improvements over the PDF: editable content and a standard file format. It does not change the watermark situation at all.

Where Is the Watermark in the PPTX File?

Unlike the PDF (where the watermark is baked into image pixels), in PPTX format the watermark is a proper slide element. Specifically, it typically lives in:

  • The Slide Master: A template layer that applies elements to all slides. Watermarks here appear on every slide without being on any individual slide.
  • Individual slide layouts: Some watermark instances may be on specific layout masters used by different slide types.
  • Individual slides: In some versions, the watermark may also appear directly on slides as a grouped shape.

Option 1: Use Our PPTX Watermark Remover (Fastest)

Our NotebookLM PPTX Watermark Remover automatically finds and removes the watermark from every location in your PPTX file - slide master, layout masters, and individual slides - in a single operation.

  1. Export your NotebookLM notebook as PPTX
  2. Upload the PPTX to our tool
  3. Download the clean PPTX - watermark removed from all locations
  4. Open in PowerPoint or Google Slides and edit freely

This takes under 30 seconds and costs nothing.

Option 2: Remove Manually in PowerPoint

If you prefer to do it manually in PowerPoint:

  1. Open the PPTX in PowerPoint
  2. Go to View → Slide Master
  3. Look for the "Made with NotebookLM" text element in the top master slide (the largest one at the top of the left panel)
  4. Click to select the element - you may need to click into a group first
  5. Delete the element
  6. Scroll through all layout masters below it and delete any additional instances
  7. Close Slide Master view
  8. Check individual slides for any remaining watermark instances
  9. Save the file

Challenges with Manual Removal

  • The watermark element may be inside a locked group - you need to ungroup it first
  • Multiple layout masters may each have their own watermark instance
  • The element might be outside the visible slide area, making it hard to find
  • Google Slides has a simpler Slide Master interface that may make this easier than PowerPoint

Option 3: Remove Manually in Google Slides

  1. Upload your PPTX to Google Drive and open with Google Slides
  2. Click Slide → Edit theme (opens the Slide Master editor)
  3. Find and delete the watermark element from the master and each layout
  4. Click Close in the theme editor
  5. Export as PPTX or keep in Google Slides format

After Watermark Removal: Customise Your PPTX

Once the watermark is removed, your PPTX is fully editable. Common customisations after NotebookLM PPTX export:

  • Add your company or personal logo to the Slide Master
  • Update the colour scheme to match your brand palette
  • Change fonts to your preferred typefaces
  • Edit slide content, add or remove slides
  • Add speaker notes for presentation delivery
